Not All "AI Influencer" Businesses Are the Same (and Why That Matters Before You Believe Any Income Claim)
Search "AI influencer" on Reddit and you'll find three completely different businesses wearing the same name. I went looking for real discussion before writing anything else in this cluster, and what I found wasn't what I expected.
None of it was about the model I actually run.
The Three Things People Mean When They Say "AI Influencer"
The girlfriend-experience model. One Reddit poster, running multiple accounts for 8 months, laid it out plainly: a cheap subscription page gets people in the door, but the real money, about 80% of it by their own estimate, comes from paid one-on-one chatting. Companionship, sold by the message. They said it clears five figures a month after expenses. Maybe true, maybe not, I have no way to check it and neither do you. What's not in question is the top comment on that post, sitting at 34 upvotes: "They are the same people that talk shit to women for doing OF but then create AI to do the same thing." That's a real, ugly objection people have to this category, and it has nothing to do with faceless business content.
The brand-deal replacement model. A different poster claimed their AI-generated persona was pulling $500 a brand deal and $7,000 a week, competing directly with human creators for sponsorship money. The post sat at a single upvote. The comments did not go well for them. "Just post [the username] reddit and see the post history this user has hidden, and you can clearly see this is bs," said the top reply. Someone else asked, reasonably, why the OP wasn't linking to the actual AI account if it existed. Nobody got an answer.
The done-for-you model. This is the one I actually run, and the one this site covers: a faceless persona, a digital product, a sales page, and the posting work, without you inventing a niche or building a following from nothing. No subscriptions, no paid intimacy. Not competing with human creators for brand deals either. Same three words in the name, nothing else in common.
Why the Pile-On Matters More Than the Post
The GFE thread is a real account of a real (if unverifiable) business. The brand-deal thread is more useful precisely because it fell apart in public. Someone claims a specific number, offers zero proof, and a subreddit with no stake in the outcome takes it apart within hours. That's not cruelty. That's what happens to any claim without a receipt attached, and it happens fast.
